Some Frequently Asked Questions
Q: If the Gerson Therapy is so effective, why isn’t it used in mainstream medicine?
A: It’s no secret that today’s orthodox medical system is largely under the control of the huge and rich pharmaceutical companies. Their advertisements maintain the medical journals, which therefore cannot publish unorthodox material, and Big Pharma also influences what is taught in medical schools through generous donations. Hence drugs remain the dominant tools of mainstream medicine. The Gerson Therapy, however, works without drugs, only using organic whole foods and natural substances, and the pharmaceutical industry cannot make any money out of it. This explains why the big battalions fight hard to keep this nutrition-based therapy – which achieves results that no drug can replicate – out of the mainstream.
Q: Can a patient undergoing chemotherapy also use the Gerson Therapy?
A: Certainly not. Chemotherapy uses highly toxic drugs, while the Gerson Therapy works to detoxify the body. It would be a stark contradiction and dangerous, too, to use the two together. In fact, patients whom chemotherapy has not helped can only use a reduced version of the Gerson protocol for at least six months, to avoid a too fast and too powerful release of the chemotherapy residues stored in the body; the process must happen slowly and gradually. However, a chemotherapy patient can adopt the Gerson diet, with maximum three glasses of freshly made juice and one coffee enema a day. Even that is a great help – but it’s not the Gerson Therapy
Q: Why is margarine not allowed in the Gerson diet? It’s a plant food, unlike butter!
A: Yes, it starts out as a golden-yellow liquid oil and ends up as a solid substance. Consider the processes needed to effect that transformation – and strip the oil of its nutrients. It is refined, bleached with acids, deodorized (by steam distillation at very high temperatures), resulting in a colourless, tasteless liquid which by then has lost its lecithin, chlorophyll, minerals and vitamins. Some essential fatty acids are left, but even these are destroyed when the refined oil gets hydrogen bubbled through it for several hours at very high temperatures. This turns it into – margarine, containing harmful trans-fatty acids, the very stuff the World Health Organisation warned us to avoid. Once you know all this, you realize that even a plant food can become obnoxious.
