Important Considerations

Whatever anyone says, no treatment works for everyone, every time. We believe that each patient should have as much information and support as possible so they can make their up their own mind about what treatment route they wish to follow.

When you have been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, choosing the best strategy for fighting it can be a bewildering task. In most cases your trusted family physician only has knowledge of conventional treatments, and is either unaware of, or even hostile toward holistic options. But no matter how many opinions you receive on how to treat your disease, you should be the one to make the final decision and you must be comfortable with what you are going to do. Choose a treatment that makes the most sense to you.

Although we feel the Gerson Therapy® is a comprehensive treatment for disease, we don't claim it will cure everything or everyone.

What the Gerson Therapy® Involves

The decision to start the therapy is a huge one as undertaking it will inevitably cause major rearrangements in your life and in your household.

We strongly recommended that before embarking, you have the full support of those around you. Be prepared, because even concerned and loving friends and relatives may well urge you to follow more conventional methods of treatment.

The amount of commitment required, both financially and practically is very high. All food must be organic and prepared to exacting standards; the juices must be freshly made; all water used must be either distilled or filtered by reverse osmosis; and all household chemicals should be removed and replaced by non-harmful alternatives.

The therapy works as a finely balanced whole and omitting any part destroys the ability to heal. It is therefore absolutely essential that both the nutritional and detoxification parts of the Therapy are carried out if there is to be any chance of success.

It takes a long time for the body's internal environment to deteriorate to the point where cancer can occur. Therefore, it is not surprising that it can take two years or more for the body to repair the damage. This Therapy is a 7 days-a-week, 16 hours-a-day task.

In all probability the patient will experience so-called flare-ups or healing reactions. These reactions are the part of the body's way of healing itself. They bring weakness, flu-like symptoms, loss of appetite and other unpleasant effects, but there are tried and tested ways of dealing with these and afterwards the patient usually feels remarkably well. During flare-ups large amounts of toxins are eliminated from the body through all the normal channels.

Especially during healing reactions, but also at other times, the patient will need plenty of rest and therefore cannot be active in preparing food and juices. Reliable kitchen help is needed, for some 55-60 hours a week. Family and friends can be organised to help with these chores, or else volunteers or paid help must be found.
